Moscow spent his life underground — Asturian mines, then tunnels into other people's vaults — a gentle bear of a man who brought his son into crime and has regretted the parenting more than the felonies. Inside the Mint he is the dig: the escape tunnel is his, meter by meter. Moscow's decency is the crew's ballast, and his guilt about Denver's upbringing is the soft spot the siege keeps finding.
