Stuart Bloom (The comic shop's melancholy proprietor) is a character in The Big Bang Theory, part of The Caltech Circle. Stuart Bloom owns the Comic Center of Pasadena, an art-school graduate whose talent peaked at a Batman sketch and whose self-esteem has been in managed decline since. He survives on the group's patronage, a diet the show implies is mostly expired snacks, and an honesty about his own sadness so complete it loops back into comedy. Adopted by the Wolowitz household in its later configuration, Stuart is the series' designated underdog — never quite at the centre of the group photo, always somehow in it.
