Who is Anatoly Dyatlov in Chernobyl?
Deputy chief engineer · Plant & Pripyat
Anatoly Dyatlov (Deputy chief engineer) is a character in Chernobyl, part of Plant & Pripyat. Anatoly Dyatlov ran the night shift's safety test with a survivor's contempt for obstacles — delay, dissent, and physics included. Deputy chief engineer of the plant, hard on subordinates and certain of his own competence, he ordered the test continued at power levels the operators feared, and when the building exploded he diagnosed the impossible as a tank fire. Pride, ambition, and a system that punished bad news: Dyatlov is where they intersect.
